Ambassador Laqanyo talking to Somali officials and intellectuals in Minnesota, USA. The ambassador has given an emphasis to the deployment of Ethiopian Army in Somalia and their stay with in the country. Ambassador Lenkenyo has mentioned that this issue has come about by the consent of the Somali parliament, which has given green light to the coming of military force into the country, without specifying which army they should be. First they submitted National Stabilization Plan to UN Security council.

The Ambassador added that any government, as a government, that it should behave as a real government and can shoulder the responsibility and the guarantee of the whole country, Somalia. It is also necessary that n it should observe international laws and regulations.

This doesn’t mean that the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia is a real government that can assume guarantee for the county. As you are well aware of, there is a conflict and disagreement among the senior officials of the government. Ambassador Lenkenyo has mentioned that in efficiencies and obstacles that stand on the way of the government, which is the infighting among the senior officials of the government. He suggested that it is good to segregate this issue into two classes:

1. To always follow and observe that the country is in pace with the international community and the relations that we have established with the outside world; and thereby keep the sovereignty and the image of the country. To this end, we are obligated to add here to the international laws, regulations and the resolutions passed by international institutions.

2. The second thing is that one can not give blind eyes to the disgusting situations and the irresponsibility that are being demonstrated by the Transitional Federal Government. It is visible that this government is losing its grace as a government. It is difficult of us, Ambassadors, to defend it or to criticize it. An Ambassador is always obligated to talk about the goodness office country and about its development. But there is nothing good of development that we can see in the Transitional Federal Government.

I can tell you that even if the functional Prime Minister, Ali Mohammed Geddi, resigns that there shall be noting good coming from it. Ambassador Lenkenyo said that the Somali people shouldn’t busy themselves in worrying about the presence of Ethiopian Army on their soil; as ultimately, the Ethiopian troops shall withdraw, the most important thing that they should thing about is the fate of their country after their withdrawal.

The Ambassador stressed time and again that the propaganda being disseminated that the Ethiopian Army has occupied the country and do not withdraw is baseless, unfounded false propaganda. He mentioned that he knows and aware of the fact that they shall they shall leave the country in near future.

He said, that his worries are, that they may vacate the country while the government is in a low and weak position or in a condition there is no government. The people who were listening to the explanations given by the Ambassador Were really very impressed with what they have heard and welcomed it.

The explanations given by Ambassador Lenkenyo can be seen as the closest to the truth concerning the Transitional Government of Somalia. Discussed also was the fact that Ambassador Lenkenyo is well informed diplomat to the Somali politics. and requested for the lifting of the arms embargo that was imposed on the country; and the embargo that prohibits the deployment of neither first line nor last line counties.
